According to today's reports, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the Delhi NCR region is constantly crossing 300, which is very serious and there is a possibility of AQI crossing 400 in the future.

Due to the air pollution problem, people have started worrying about their health. Air pollution is very harmful to our health, reports say that pollution can cause diseases like heart diseases, neurological disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, kidney diseases, liver diseases, skin diseases, bronchitis, and asthma, which can be fatal if they last for a long time.

In our previous blog, we discussed the increasing air pollution and how air pollution affects your health. In this blog, we will get information about how we can take care of our health, our family, and our acquaintances amidst the rising air pollution.

Start preparing for prevention from home

These days, air pollution is not only outside the house, it is also present inside. Keep all the windows and doors closed during the peak of pollution. When the pollution is low (especially in the early morning or late at night), open the windows or gates for a few minutes and let fresh air enter the house. Use an air purifier at home. If there is no air purifier, keep indoor plants in the house, which purify the air.

Minimize the use of household items that emit pollutants such as air fresheners, incense sticks (agarbatti), etc.

Take special care while going out of the house

Leave the house only when there is important work. If the Air Quality Index (AQI) level is very high, at that time avoid going out.

Use a mask as soon as you step out of the house. N95 masks can be very effective in severe pollution. If you do not have a mask, wet a piece of cloth and use it as a mask. When you return from outside, wash your face, especially your eyes, hands, and feet.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle and eating well

A healthy lifestyle is important for good health and boosting immunity. Eat protein and nutrient-rich food and increase the amount of fruits, vegetables, and nuts in your diet. Wash fruits and vegetables properly before cooking. Avoid eating outside food, especially fried food. Also, take a limited but necessary diet. Also, keep drinking water regularly.

Keep exercising regularly and do exercises at home. Yoga or Pranayama can help in increasing the capacity of the lungs. Also, you may consume good and safe immunity boosters available in the market which contain Tulsi, Giloy, Neem, and Ashwagandha.

Take precautions in the office

After reaching and leaving the office, wash your hands and face thoroughly. These days, viral infections also spread rapidly, so try to maintain distance from colleagues suffering from viral. If needed, wear a mask in the office too. Take regular short breaks during office hours. You can also opt to work from home when pollution is very high.

Take special care of the elderly, sick people, and children

Air pollution can be very harmful for the elderly, sick people, and children, because their immunity is not as strong as that of adults.

Sick and old people should rest at home, do regular exercise at home, and eat healthy food. Go outside of the house only when it is important. Also, it would be better not to send children to school for a few days.

Conclusion

Increasing air pollution is a serious problem. That is why everyone should take special care of their health and the health of their loved ones. We must look after our health by changing our lifestyle, eating well, and following important guidelines. Also, pay attention to the important instructions given by the government and experts from time to time and follow them. We also must make other people aware by getting information.
